front end modifications

turn signals:  First, note that I removed the butt-ugly front turn signals and replaced them with both KuryAkyn turn signal mirrors (see here) and a pair of 6” LED strips from Signal Dynamics on my modified Interstate fork deflectors.  Bonus: with the front signals gone, you can cut off the nasty looking turn signal stay.  I used a Dremel cut-off wheel and just cut the weld.  I primed the cut end to prevent rust.

fork bullets:  I installed Aeromach fork bullets.  Pricey little devils, but very 50’s.

Interstate fork deflectors:  Also visible are the modified Hondaline Interstate front wind deflectors, mounted to a Rattlebars “UnderWhere” triple tree cover.  For complete instructions on how to make the deflector modifications, click here.

The fork wings normally mount to the headlight mounting bolts.  Because of the UnderWhere, these bolts are not accessible.  To overcome this limitation, simply cut off the deflector mounting tabs with a Dremel cut-off wheel and mount the deflectors directly to the UnderWhere.  Clean.

Rattlebars radiator trim:  The radiator has the full Rattlebars treatment.  Most prominent is the Dave’s Bar Grill.  This thing is worth its weight in gold!  This part was based on a design from Dave Sproul, who has made a really trick “Tourer SE” out of Harley touring parts. The Bar Grill looks especially nice when combined with the Rattlebars radiator hose covers (top and bottom) and top radiator trim.  The top hose kit even includes braid for the overflow hose and choke cable.  Highly recommended

triple clamps:  This shot shows the Two Brothers Racing Billet Triple Clamp Kit.  The clamps improve handling at low speeds due to decreased trail.  Some also report an improvement in high speed handling.  They are super beefy, nearly twice as thick as stock.  One caveat – the polish job is awful.  As you can see, I had mine chromed.

Also note the Jardine fork nut cover, Pro One fork cap covers, and Pro One gas tank mount cover.  I have since replaced this Pro One cover with a new tank mount cover from KuryAkyn.  Click here for more information.

front brakes:  Barely visible in this terrible shot are the Pro One bleeder screw covers, caliper covers, and banjo bolt covers.  The front fender brake hose stays have been painted black (cheap spray can paint) to blend in with the bike.  The stock chrome flange bolts retaining the brake hose stays have been replaced with buttonhead allen bolts (stock passenger seat front mounting bolts), also painted black.  The calipers and caliper carriers will be powder coated black.

KuryAkyn has come out with some new caliper covers.  These are very high quality castings that, unlike the Pro Ones, also cover the sides of the calipers.  Very nice.

The windshield flange bolts were replaced with chrome buttonhead allen bolts.  Note: The Hondaline windshield has been sold, to be replaced with a custom Corbin Road King Fairing.

The risers, cables, hoses, and hand controls are covered in the hand control section.
