This post by "rws" appeared on the VRCC Tech Board on 5/4/00: For front wheel follow owners manual . . .
For rear wheel:
1. Raise the bike so the rear tire is just about to lift off the floor. Remove both lower shock bolts (using an extension and swivel) No need to remove hardbags, fender, or exhaust.
2. Remove the two acorn nuts on each muffler that attach it to the hanger, then wedge a 1/2" piece of wood between each muffler and the hanger. This will provide the clearance for the swing arm and final drive to drop down.
3. Now raise the bike high enough so the swing arm drops down low enough to remove the brake bracket bolt and the axle nut. Hang the brake caliper with wire, remove the axle and pull the wheel out.
