idler pulley lubrication

From TZrider:

While swapping over to my new polished pulley support I noticed the Idle pulleys didn't spin very freely.  To correct this I popped off the bearing dust seals with a small pick and washed the bearings out with "break-away" (WD-40 etc. works well too).  From there I repacked them with high pressure-temp grease and re-installed the dust caps.  When I first took them off they would rotate 2-3 times, now with the same amount of force they'll spin 12-15 times.  Once I started the truck the noise from the front of the motor was noticeably quieter, strange thing is it didn't seem noisy to start with.

step 1: remove blower belt

step 2: using a 13mm socket remove each of the 2 pulleys

step 3: using a small pic remove the dust cap from each bearing.
this can be done using a small mechanics pick, pop the cap by inserting the pick between the inner race and seal (it comes out very easy)(note: these are captured ball bearings so they won't fall out).

step 4: clean bearings with wd-40, breakaway etc.

step 5: re-pack bearings with a lightweight grease

step 6: using your thumbs press the dust seals back on

step 7: re-install pulleys and blower belt . . . Voila nice and quiet

This whole process can easily be done in less than 30 minutes
