probably 500 ft. above sea level. Very early production model (one
of the first few hundred). Firmware 1.0 (GTech
will be offering firmware upgrades that can be done with a PC).
I
weigh 260 lbs., the tank was 3/4 full, bone stock truck with soft cover,
so I entered a weight of 4,900 lbs. Calibrated twice. Bone stock 2002 engine, 1,800
miles on the odo.No wheelspin at all in any run. All times taken by left-foot braking and simultaneously lifting the brake and pressing the throttle. Did not load up the converter for the launch--just stomped it off of idle. Taken off of side of freeway with launch area from closed lanes. The unit may not have been level during the first run. Conclusions: Very consistent times, very inconsistent HP readings. As can be seen in the data below, the times were well within 1% of each other, most being about .5% off from run to run. Of course, the truck could have been running very inconsistently and the GTech could have been coincidentally off in the opposite direction on each run, but that seems unlikely. GTech recommends that multiple runs be averaged, with the worst 2 of 5 being disregarded. I have no idea what the truck actually runs in the 1/4 mile, so I cannot comment on absolute accuracy. I cannot explain why the HP readings were all over the map. The tach data may have something to do with the way HP is calculated, and I am not getting consistent tach readings, even after following the RPM calibration routine. Biggest pleasant surprises: More data points than I imagined (not all data is displayed below). Will do a full graphic replay in real time after each run! Biggest disappointment: Cannot measure 60-0 braking times or record maximum lateral g's. I guess I won't be selling my old GTech Pro after all. This is a huge disappointment! Hopefully this will be corrected in future versions of the software. The manual I have says "Pre-release manual" on the front. Full review to come. |
