sound control

People post on the board all the time about how easy it is to apply sound control.  Don't believe them.  It's a royal PITA.  It takes days and ounces of knuckle flesh and blood.  It took me two solid weekends to lay two layers of RAAMmat and one layer of 1/4" neoprene.

This shot shows the Home Depot mesh that I applied over the door hole.  A second layer of RAAMmat was installed next.

Here's the finished door:

I have few tips for this project.

Be careful not to stack the sound control products too high in the rear corners at the floor.  If you do, the rear lower panels will be difficult to reinstall.

Cut further away from bolts holes and such than you might think.  When reinstalling things, dragging the bolts through the sound control rubber will get goo on the threads and make things difficult.
